Do you immediately assume that he is a drunk, or she is a drug addict? Do you check to see if your car doors are locked? Do you avert your eyes and hope for the light to turn green so you can drive away and get back to your normal happy life? Or, when you see this person, does something pull at your heart strings, making you wonder what lead him to this current circumstance and how you could help a little? As Aquinas says, wouldn't you "rather feel compassion" for others, than "know the meaning of it" for yourself? It could be you, or someone you love, who is standing on that corner asking for help someday. People think that the homeless are asking for is charity, but I don't believe that to be the case. When a man or woman gets to a point that they have to stand on the corner on a cold or rainy day with a cardboard sign asking for money or food, I think they are asking for compassion, and it's disheartening to see how little they receive. You don't need to be rich to show someone you care though. You could acknowledge them with a wave or a smile. You can wish them luck or stop back by with a soda or $10 bag of food. The next time you see someone asking for your help, the important thing is that you act on that feeling of compassion in your heart, rather than on those instincts of fear or assumptions of addiction. Even if its only a short prayer, its better than locking your doors or ignoring that another human being is there and in need of help. 'Do unto others, as you would have done unto you' - not just in good times, but in bad times too. All life is interconnected and interdependent. All share in the Universal bond of love. Love begins with self acceptance and forgiveness. With tolerance and compassion we embrace diversity. Together we make a difference through love. Let the love within your heart be the focus of your awareness throughout the day. Allow yourself to be accepting, forgiving, peaceful, joyful and in harmony with yourself and all life around you. Just be! You and I have the opportunity to make a difference. Together we can embrace our unlimited self, the part of us that knows love and expresses it naturally and simply. It is when we accept ourselves just for who we are that we transform the moment into peace, security, joy and love. This process begins with releasing our limiting beliefs, past mistakes, lack of self worth, pride and ego through the conscious act of forgiveness. It is up to us as individuals to undertake this journey. We begin the transformation when we turn within and accept our self. We change the world when we change our perspective. more can be read at http://www.thelovefoundation Love, light, and peace comes from Harold W. In Our Midst - Can a Scientist Be an "Angel on Earth?"
by Burton Danet, Ph.D. One of our Torrance, California residents is In Our Midst - Can a Scientist Be an "Angel on Earth?" by Burton Danet, Ph.D. One of our Torrance, California residents is an "Angel on Earth." Dr. George Paskalov, a physicist by profession, has, with his team, recently made an accidental discovery in a physics laboratory in Southern California. The discovery is called, "Plasma Activated Water (PAW)." The water, used for cooling purposes in very hot plasma experiments and applications, up to 10,000 degrees, was discovered by this Team to have unusually beneficial properties, causing the scientific team to augment their usual activity with studies of the water. So they first studied about 30 properties of the water. One amazing discovery is that one form of the water is proven by independent laboratory testing to be antiviral and antibacterial! As the scientists grew accustomed to consuming the water (both themselves and their families), they began to notice some unusual phenomena: For example, the grandson of the CEO became the only child in his school who never got sick like all the other children. The many applications of the discovery are significant, including: --providing potable water where polluted waters exist; --extension of consumable fruit (strawberries); --improved milk production; --ability to sanitize medical/dental instruments, hospitals, ERs, ORs, hotel rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, etc. without chemicals; --enhanced agriculture; --treatment of sewage contaminated water --and many other applications. The above applications have been validated scientifically and field-tested. Additional work continues to document these findings. Further potential applications are dramatic. If one talks with those who have had the opportunity to sample consuming the water, there unfolds a story containing information that has not been available to people up until now. This phenomenon is reflected in a Thesis on Plasma Activated Water (PAW) written by Joshua Liebow for his B.A. Degree in Psychobiological Medicine at the University of California, Santa Cruz: "Water Treatment for the Not So Distant Future." Contained within the thesis is "The Water Drop Story." The potential for extending the benefits of Plasma Activated Water (PAW) around the globe suggests that Dr. Paskalov and his Team can be considered the equivalent of "Angels on Earth" since they stumbled across a discovery that is turning out to have such amazingly wonderful properties. Truly fortunate to have Dr. George Paskalov in our midst, the South Bay Community can begin to celebrate a discovery that holds the potential for "Global Humanitarian Relief:" Respectfully submitted, Burton Danet, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist (Retired) Change is Good. You have seen homeless people who live on the street, in parks, in doorways and in other public places. But we rarely see 80 per cent of those without a place to call home - the hidden homeless. They are the youth, adults, families and seniors who move from friend to friend and relative to relative while looking for affordable housing. They are the adults who live in cars and abandoned buildings in cities and on farms. They sleep in church basements for the winter. They are women who accept housing from a man, even in dangerous situations, rather than freeze on the street. They are children who are put in the care of Children's Aid Societies, because their parents can't afford to care for them. Message To The World. We' Music written and performed by Light Euphoric (Tam Katzin and Chad Quist) - www.lighteuphoric.com Message To The World. We're living through painful times. Painful, because people with their eyes and hearts open can't help but feel tremendous grief about what's happening in the world today. We believe that love the power of the human spirit can heal pains, struggles and gives blessings and opportunities to contribute to a better world There are many hungers in our world today. The hunger for food, and also the hunger for love . There is the hunger for physical comfort, peace and for wholeness. What one of us is lacking, another has in abundance, be that a slice of bread, a skill you have in you , a connection you can make. Thank you for watching as this video may let one or the other create a thriving, just and sustainable future and that would be the first step to make a Better world Join people from around the world as we acknowledge, celebrate and share the love we have within. This is a special day of recall Join people from around the world as we acknowledge, celebrate and share the love we have within. This is a special day of recalling that love is the link that binds us all. It is also the awesome power that heals and transforms everything it contacts.
Each of us is a potent force of love when we allow this energy to express itself. There is nothing we have to ultimately do, rather we need only allow ourselves to feel and be love. It is that simple. Global Love Day is merely our way of saying let's remember love is ours to be and to share every moment of our lives. We understand this day is a symbol of what we can do every day of the year. Our intent is to join together in a conscious recognition that love is always present. For so many, love is often hidden under layers of hurt, trauma, drama, pain and suffering. Emotional memories, unspoken doubt, fear, resentment and a multitude of old beliefs often keep us from realizing these thoughts and feelings have no real power over us. We give them power by living in the past and being afraid of the future. We ignore the love that is present every moment while embracing limitation. It is time to change that. It is time to release ourselves from our own self created bondage. As we come to know who we are and why we act and react the way we do, we start to see ourselves in the faces of humanity. The reflection of hurt is our hurt, their pain is our pain, another's anger is our anger. It is also seen in the face of nature. Her destruction is our destruction. These seemingly random expressions are our past thoughts seeking manifestation. It is our constant reminder that love is the answer. We build a new reality in this current moment when we let go. When we choose love over fear, kindness over hate, integration over separation, and peace over war, we bring a new reflection to humanity... our loving selves. So, please accept our invitation to love. Join us hand-in-hand as we share our love on this planet once again. Love, light, and peace, Harold W. In the past, depravity and poverty have taken a toll on the area, sending it into depression.
Joseph Lukwago with the Old Boys and Girls of Kyazanga Modern Primary School through Joy for Humanity are joining hands in a new project to bring this community to a thriving state which is going to be a practical example to the rest of the communities in Uganda. The youthful team believes that the youth are the leaders of today and tomorrow and they can greatly assist in "building a community for a better tomorrow". They want to encourage and empower the youth with leadership skills that will promote the quality of life for themselves, their community and country at large. Joseph a fresh graduate and a holder of a BsAIT (SMU-India) and Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering (Aptech Computer Education) believes that Information and knowledge can do wonders to change the face of the poor in rural, isolated and underprivileged regions. If knowledge can make a difference, we're going to test that. We are going to show that it can really make a difference. For the past, Uganda has not been having an Information and Communication Technology ministerial post which has made us lag behind in this important sector. It's just in 2006 that the government announced the creation of a ministry of ICT. With this ministry as a new born baby in Uganda, It will take the ministry many years to achieve its objectives because it wouldn't differ from the stages a child goes through until he/she becomes a useful citizen of the country. More still the growth of this ministry work is going to begin in urban areas and for the rural areas it is going to be a different story because without power supply in the rural areas, this ministry has to again wait for power!! Since Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have had a significant impact on the lives of people in the more affluent countries - bringing them closer together, making differences less important and amplifying economic activity and growth, Joseph and his team have come up with a project Center for Uganda Rural Empowerment (CURE) using ICT. One top of the list is connecting the community with the rest of the globe without changing their geographical boundaries by have a CURE Information Management System (CURE-IMS) With CURE-IMS, we are going to have situational analysis and formulation of strategies for using ICT for community development. This is to make us grasp the socio-economic conditions of people's lives in order to identify community needs and to formulate concise strategies for the utilization of ICT in the community. more can be read at http://www.kyazanga.org/cure In December 2004, we had our first primary seven students sitting their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) which marked their end in Pre-primary and Primary school which takes 9 to 10 years in Uganda. Our school maintains students in primary level and once they finish this level they have to join new schools for their secondary education. We had 20 students sitting these exams and in January 2005 the results were released by the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) and out of the 20, 13 students had passed in First grade and 7 had got super second grades. This meant that all these children qualified to go to very good secondary schools to further their education. Being that these good secondary schools are very expensive in all aspects, these children ended up going to low secondary schools due to the limited resources that their parents or relatives can afford. about this project can be reas at http://www.kyazanga.org/joy You may contact us by E-mail, Phone or using the Postal Address below: JOY FOR HUMANITY KYAZANGA MODERN PRIMARY SCHOOL, P.O. as I sat down to read, Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree. Disillusi The park bench was deserted as I sat down to read, Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree. Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown, For the world was intent on dragging me down. And if that weren't enough to ruin my day, A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play. He stood right before me with his head tilted down, And said with great excitement, "Look what I found!" In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight, With its petals all worn down not enough rain, or too little light, Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play, I faked a smile and then shifted away. But instead of retreating he sat next to my side, And placed the flower to his nose and declared with overacted surprise, "It smells pretty and it's beautiful too. That's why I picked it; here it's for you!" The weed before me was dying or dead. Not vibrant of colours, orange, yellow or red. But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave. So I reached for the flower and replied, "Just what I need." But instead of him placing the flower in my hand, He held it mid-air without reason or plan. It was then that I noticed for the very first time, That the weed-toting boy could not see, he was blind. I heard my voice quiver, tears shone like the sun, As I thanked him for picking the very best one. "You're welcome" he smiled and then ran off to play, Unaware of the impact he's had on my day. I sat there and wondered how he managed to see, A self-pitying person beneath an old willow tree. How did he know about my self-indulged plight? Perhaps from his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight. Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see, The problem was not with the world; the problem was me. And for all of those times I myself had been blind, I vowed to see the beauty in life, and appreciate every second that's mine. And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose and breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose. And I smiled as I watched that young boy, another weed in his hand, About to change the life of an unsuspecting person. (UN Study On The Status of Women, Year 2000) Fact #32: Globally, at least one in three women and girls is beaten or sexually abused in her lifetime. (UN Commission on the Status of Women, 2/28/00) Fact #33: A recent survey by the Kenyan Women Rights Awareness Program revealed that 70% of those interviewed said they knew neighbors who beat their wives. Nearly 60% said women were to blame for the beatings. Just 51% said the men should be punished. (The New York Times, 10/31/97) Fact #34: 4 million women and girls are trafficked annually. (United Nations) Fact #35: An estimated one million children, mostly girls, enter the sex trade each year (UNICEF) Fact #36: A 2005 World Health Organization study reported that nearly one third of Ethiopian women had been physically forced by a partner to have sex against their will within the 12 months prior to the study. (WHO Multi-country Study on Women's Health and Domestic Violence Against Women, 2005) Fact #37: In a study of 475 people in prostitution from five countries (South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, USA, and Zambia): 62% reported having been raped in prostitution. 73% reported having experienced physical assault in prostitution. 92% stated that they wanted to escape prostitution immediately. (Melissa Farley, Isin Baral, Merab Kiremire, Ufuk Sezgin, "Prostitution in Five Countries: Violence and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder" (1998) Feminism & Psychology 8 (4): 405-426) Fact #38: The most common act of violence against women is being slapped—an experience reported by 9% of women in Japan and 52% in provincial Peru. Rates of sexual abuse also varies greatly around the world—with partner rape being reported by 6% of women from Serbia and Montenegro, 46% of women from provincial Bangladesh, and 59% of women in Ethiopia. (WHO Multi-country Study on Women's Health and Domestic Violence Against Women, 2005) Fact #39: So-called "honour killings" take the lives of thousands of young women every year, mainly in North Africa, Western Asia and parts of South Asia. (UNFPA) Fact #40: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan reported that 2002 saw a 25% increase in "honor killings" of women, with 461 women murdered by family members in 2002, in 2 provinces (Sindh and Punjab) alone. (Pakistan Human Rights Commission, 2002) Fact #41: More than 90 million African women and girls are victims of female circumcision or other forms of genital mutilation. (Heise: 1994) Fact #42: In eastern and souther Africa, 17 to 22% of girls aged 15 to 19 are HIV-positive, compared to 3 to 7% of boys of similar age. This pattern—seen in many other regions of the world—is evidence that girls are being infected with HIV by a much older cohort of men. (UNICEF/UNAIDS 2007) Fact #43: : A 2005 study reported that 7% of partnered Canadian women experienced violence at the hands of a spouse between 1999 and 2004. Of these battered women, nearly one-quarter (23%) reported being beaten, choked, or threatened with a knife or gun. (Family Violence in Canada: A Statistical Profile, 2005) Fact #44: In Zimbabwe, domestic violence accounts for more than 60% of murder cases that go through the high court in Harare. (ZWRCN) Fact #45: a study in Zaria, Nigeria found that 16 percent of hospital patients treated for sexually transmitted infections were younger than 5. NOTE: we are not against Foster care or Parents as long as Children are in good Hands But seems like things are not going right !!!!!!!!!!!! But the reality is that survivors of foster care and/or adoption who are escaping sex slavery in its various forms are informing the world the truth about foster families, foster cares and adoptions... and victims of sexual, physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural assault in foster or adoptive homes. And there are many more out there waiting for help . Like ,family members of those whose lives were lost or disabled because of the effects of such abuse while in the province's care or adopted through arrangements made by its agencies parents whose children have been apprehended by child welfare agencies & denied family reconciliation One cannot take children from their families and send them to hell!!!!! Abuse in Foster Cares Lifting the veil:a system Out of Control God give us leaders with compassion, leaders who will help close the gap of hope, leaders who will help us build a kinder and gentler America, and make sure that NO child, no family, is left behind. Parenting, ANY good parenting, is necessary and God-ordained work. It deserves our support as such. It does take a village to accomplish anything important. And that village surely is US! Part II will reveal more details Peace is the United Nations' highest calling
The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations as an a Peace is the United Nations' highest calling The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations as an annual observance of global non-violence and ceasefire. Every year, people in all parts of the world honour peace in various ways on 21 September. This year, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will ring the Peace Bell at United Nations Headquarters in New York in the company of the UN Messengers of Peace. He has called for a 24-hour cessation of hostilities on 21 September, and for a minute of silence to be observed around the world at noon local time. In his statement issued to commemorate this year's Day of Peace, Secretary-General Ban said that "Peace is the United Nations' highest calling." "It defines our mission. It drives our discourse. And it draws together all of our world wide work, from peacekeeping and preventive diplomacy to promoting human rights and development." The United Nations General Assembly adopted resolutions in 1981 and 2001 establishing the International Day of Peace and urging "all nations and people" to commemorate the Day as an opportunity to promote peaceful resolutions of conflicts and to honour a cessation of hostilities during the day. Over the past year, the United Nations has been involved in seeking resolution to the world's most intractable conflicts and in supporting peace once it has been achieved, through peacemaking, peacekeeping and peacebuilding. It's probably the most commonly used symbol of protest in the world, instantly recognised as everywhere as the universal sign for Peace - and in 2008 it is 50 years old. The symbol was first drawn on on home-made banners and badges in 1958, when CND was launched at a public meeting in London, but has since been apropriated by scores of different protest movements, from hippies in 1960s America - the first to use it to represent 'peace' - to feminists and anarchist punks. In 2008 just as it was 50 years earlier, the CND logo is re-created at anti-nuclear demonstrations the world over. The disarmament symbol The history of the disarmament symbol has been subject to much speculation over the years. It was actually designed in 1958 by Gerald Holtom, a professional artist and graduate of the Royal College of Arts. He presented his early designs to the Peace News office in North London and, significantly, to the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War, one of the groups that helped to set up CND. The symbol was first seen in public during the 1958 Aldermaston march and from that moment onwards became identified with CND and its objective of nuclear disarmament. Ironically the symbol itself is a mix of the military semaphore signals N — representing nuclear — and D — representing disarmament (semaphore alphabet). However, Holtom, a conscientious objector during the Second World War, subverted this use of semaphores by placing the D over the N, the "upside down logo" signifying his anti-military principles. In a more personal account of his design, Holtom later wrote to Hugh Brock, editor of Peace News, saying, 'I was in despair. Deep despair. I drew myself: the representative of an individual in despair, with hands palm outstretched outwards and downwards in the manner of Goya's peasant before the firing squad. I formalised the drawing into a line and put a circle round it.' Although there remain alternative stories explaining the logo, the letters and interviews of Gerald Holtom clearly demonstrate the roots of his idea. The Disarmament Symbol goes global This "CND logo" was not however confined to these shores. The "peace symbol", as it is usually dubbed outside Britain, was first brought over to the United States by Bayard Rustin, a key figure in the civil rights movement of the 1960s and a protestor at the 1958 Aldermaston march. Consequently, the symbol was used in civil rights marches and later spread to anti-Vietnam War demonstrations. Since then it has appeared around the world not only as a sign for nuclear disarmament but also as the international hallmark of peace. The real power of this symbol is clear in the reaction it provokes from both its supporters and enemies. During the Apartheid regime in South Africa, the Government attempted to ban the logo, while various far right and fundamentalist groups have tried to undermine it, suggesting hidden links with Communism and even Satanism. The Freedom of the Peace Symbol Although specifically designed for the anti-nuclear movement it has quite deliberately never been copyrighted. No one has to pay or to seek permission before they use it. A symbol of freedom, it is free for all. this video is made with the support of http://www.happybirthdaypeace WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD
