US: PREAMBLE
A Better
Community for All (ABC4All) / UGANDA is a coalition of 6 legally youth-founded,
registered, voluntary, nongovernmental and not-for-profit community-based organizations
in cooperation with Main ABC4All Co-Founders, Burton Danet/Bob Chew (USA) who
have voluntarily dedicated total commitment to facilitate efforts for positive
social change.
ABC4All / UGANDA aspires to a world where young people can reach their full
potential through active participation in the development of their community
with a common ethos of voluntarism.
MISSION
ABC4All /
UGANDA is well focused on promoting human values in Uganda for young people in
view of building sustainable community with improved standards of living. The
main thrust is to enhance opportunities to realize their full potential and
capabilities.
OBJECTIVES
Among our
set objectives are:
1.
Provide
support for the disadvantaged/less privileged.
2.
Promote
International understanding through development and implementation of
affordable intercultural and educational training opportunities.
3.
Involve
and empower youth in decision-making. Youth have a critical role to play in
addressing the challenges they face. Youth involvement is key to the quality of
our present and future existence.
4.
Train
youth for entrepreneurial skills.
5.
Ensure
environmental sustainability.
6.
Promote
peace and human rights locally and globally.
7.
Ensure
the welfare of children.
8.
Advocacy
for HIV/AIDS.
PRINCIPLES
Among our
guiding principles are:
1.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA works with constructive influences within a community.
2.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA does not discipline others.
3.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA does not seek to set laws.
4.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA does not confront nor challenge existing political, religious or other
influences.
5.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA presents opportunity where none existed before rather than attempting
to change negative influences.
6.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA seeks to screen, research and then offer information void of
potentially harmful ingredients which, when shared with others can lead to
health improvement(s) for individuals, groups and the community at large.
7.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA engages with young people with the understanding there is an inherent
desire to work towards self-determination and improvement in living.
8.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA operates in physical settings where no alcohol or drugs are consumed.
Alcohol, for example, is known to kill brain cells. Such habit-forming
substances are known to be harmful to humans and create influences over
behavior rather than individuals determining their own behavior.
9.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA seeks to assist young people, their groups and the entire community to
reach self-determination and therefore improved lifestyles.
10.
ABC4All
/ UGANDA operates with the assumption that with improved lifestyles, young
persons will be more inclined to continue efforts towards self-determination
and will better care for themselves and others.
11.
ABC4All
assumes that, with increased self-determination of young people, there will be
carryover into the community at large that also will become healthier, with a
resultant increase in the prevalence of constructive societal trends.
