WALK FOR PEACE 2009

 

BACKGROUND

 

The war that lasted for almost fourteen years in Liberia is over. Atrocities that were committed during the war against fellow human beings were enormous, sad, dreadful and painful. Killings, raping, child slavery and soldiers etc was very rampant on a high level.

 

A President was elected when the war was over. Reconciliation was conducted amongst the people of Liberia. To forget is divine, but the pains that dwell on people hearts are very heavy to carry.

 

Looking forward for a brighter future for Liberia is the goal and vision of every meaning African that will help build Liberia’s national interest. The common purpose for unity that will supersede to the altitude of oneness and a family of love, free from any act of violence.     

 

Based on this fact, the Peace Walker and his Team would like to embark on a walk of about Two hundred and seventy kilometer stretch and end in the Capital Monrovia, to mobilize, address and educate the youth in terms of reconciliation, unity, stability, and peace amongst Liberians for a common goal.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION

 

From time immemorial, the loss of human lives is always witnessed when there is civil war. The use of power for destructions, child abuse and enriching oneself is the key note. People create war, contend war and sustain war with the use of people who are innocent, and the ignorant ones are drugged to kill, loot and destroy properties and human lives. 

 

Besides that, this form of act is taken from different perspectives to victimized people and families who are one way or the other not willing to compromise or were having problems or some form of quarrels with their opponents before.

 

Victims live in pain, fear and are traumatized after the war. Poverty, chaos, confusion, deep hatred and to avenge becomes the other of the day.

 

Accordingly, the Peace Walker and his Team proposes " WALK FOR PEACE 2009" project to ABC4All for support that will enable them complete successfully the LAUNCHING of (ABC4All/LIBERIA).

 

Let us share our history, our experiences and therefore help one another avoid wrong choices.

 

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

 

The project is to unify all Liberians irrespective of what has happened before, their political affiliation and tribal backgrounds. It is intended to adequately address discrimination and non-violence act division. It is planned to mobilize, address and educate the youth as well as the elderly. It is also planned to distribute stickers and handbills of both non-violence pictures and messages throughout the communities. Three press conferences will be organized just before, halfway in the walk and after to address, inform, educate and to all Liberians.

 

 

TARGET GROUP

 

About two million youth population in Liberia.

 

 

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

 

GOALS

 

The overriding goal of the project is to educate and improve the level of thinking in terms of the past and to foster unity.

 

OBJECTIVES

 

To achieve the developmental goals of the project, the following objectives have to been set forth:

 

To promote unity, reconciliation, peace and love amongst Liberians for a common purpose.

 

To address, educate and appeal to all the youth in particular not to be used and  engulf themselves in any act or violence that could destruct the peace Liberia is             enjoying now.

 

To promote respect for fair and diversity.

 

 

ACTIVITIES

 

1.        Three most prominent Chiefs and their elders, who will address,

            educate and advice the youth on non-violent conduct, they will also pray and

            support the project.

 

2.        To organized youth representatives from the fifteen political sub-division territories  

             within Liberia as part of the walk.

 

3.        Six white doves will be released at any of the press conferences as a symbol of

            Peace, Reconciliation and Unity to Liberians.

 

4.         Mobilize, educate and distribute stickers and handbills.

 

PROJECT EXPECTED RESULTS

 

1.                          Improve their understanding and reduce incident free and acts of violence.

2.                          Improve safety and security within the environment.

3.                          Create awareness amongst them to forget about the past and to respect other opinions and to spread the message of unity and reconciliation.

4.                          To show and love one another as brothers and sisters.

 

 

PROJECT BENEFICIARIES

 

The direct beneficiaries of the project are the youth and elderly who will learn to appreciate each other irrespective of their past views and background in the era of this modern globalization. Besides that, a massive reduction of hatred behaviour will varnish slowly.

 

 

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

 

The project will be implemented on the 23rd – 27th March 2009. It will be a five days affair. While the Peace Walker and his Team have earmarked these date, we are aware that funding will be needed for the process to commence. In this light we are of the conviction that you will appraise the project before the date and make the requisite funding for this worthy project.

 

 

MONITORING

 

Progress will be monitored and measured daily. A post-project evaluation will be held between the sponsor and the peace walker and team two weeks after completion of project to analyze the success of the project. Also during the period, the sponsor(s) may decide, upon notice to move with the team to see physical realities of the project.

 

Besides, proper financial records will be kept to facilitate easy monitoring and evaluation.

 

 

REPORT

 

We will send you a complete report of the project. We will furnish you with video clips and photographs to justify the implementation.

 

Our receipts, invoices, vouchers and other financial documents will be photocopied and send to you to justify our expenditure.

 

 

PRIVACY DOCUMENT

 

By signing this document, we hereby consent to allowing you to name the “WALK FOR PEACE 2009” under you and to review all enclosed proposals and find a sponsorship for approval.

 

All printed products like T-shirts, Polo shirts, banners, backdrop and handbills will be embossed by the sponsorship’s logo.

 

Airing of the press conference will also be embossed the sponsorship’s logo.

 

 

COMMITMENT

 

Please ensure that the sponsorship’s payments are made latest by the 25th day of February 2009, with an attached download of your logo on a CD.
