ACADEMIC SCHOOLS PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY:  WHY?

Text Box: "An Africa without a sustainable, strong knowledge sector of its own will always remain in a dangerously dependent position." - Hans van Ginkel, Rector, and United Nations University

Campus Africa’s Generation Education Mission (CAMPUS AGE MISSION) is pleased to invite University Schools and professors in campuses all over the world to partner with AGE MISSION in promoting service learning and teaching in Africa.

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Because of the deterioration of living condition in Burundi, few people can send their children in school and can provide the basic needs their children. Due to the shortage of financial resource, children stop their studies after primary school, they can’t afford to go to secondary, college and university schools, so they spend their time scavenging for food, idling time in high risk acts and behavior, drug, violence, sexual acts negatively affecting their life: facing malnutrition, HIV/AIDS, trauma, and other diseases. Supported by many cultivated Leaders, it is clear that Education is one of the affirmative urgent actions to end dependency and make poverty history in Africa by empowering people, through lifelong and higher education: “SERVICE LEARING” as in the quote of Hans van Ginkel, Rector, United Nations University

Why this project is most needed and important:

Establish ACADEMIC training program to assist and train:

Impoverished children from the North Communities of the town of Bujumbura in Burundi who completed their college but stopped their studies because they are orphans and or their parents are not able to pay school fees for their secondary and university studies. CAMPUS AGE MISSION, a charity program, will offer, free of charge, opportunities for education, technical training, and provide shelter at school with food, medicine and school materials/supplies.

CAMPUS AGE MISSION project, as a project for “Professors Without Borders” will provide services learning and teaching online and offline without cost.  Offered is lifelong training for every human being desiring to update their knowledge regardless age and study levels: Elementary, primary, secondary, college and university, a way to help people in disadvantaged areas access service learning scholarships.  Therefore, we seek Academicians already active who will collaborate and set up similar courses.  We will appreciate professors who help us to achieve this goal by setting up online academic programs.

Potential Long Term Impact

As the number of certified graduates having achieved “Licensed-Doctoral-Certificates,” the number of street children/poor people will be reduced.  Ultimate goal:  100%!
