ABC4All SIERRA LEONE (A Better Community For All) is a humanitarian Organisation (NGO). It was founded on Christian Principles with a strong belief that our Lord Jesus is our Saviour. The Church started in 2002 with 62 members: 24 women aged 17-25 years, 38 Children within the ages of 4 to 16 years including 10 men, age 25- 35. All these members are victims of the past 11 years of rebel war in Sierra Leone. The Church is presently located at 16, Sibthorpe Street in the Eastern part of Freetown. With the Blessing of the Almighty, the Church (Faith In Action Evangelical Mission) decided to run a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) separately to assist the inflow of members are all victims of the rebel war.

By then, the Church was able to become a member with a Self-Help Organisation in California, Called ABC4All, Co-Founder is Dr. Burton Danet. Since then, we have been trying very hard to see that this programme succeeds. Resulting from our last Conference report, we have registered members of 260 Orphans/War children, Sexually Abused Girls, Widows and Homeless.

After our Needs Assessments Survey conducted by Pastors and Community developers, we discovered that most of these Communities where we are preaching the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ lack some basic needs, like: Medical facilities, Safe drinking water, Food, Clothing and most of all Education.  The majority of our Church members are illiterate. They cannot read nor write. The girls are the most vulnerable and needy because at the age of 10 and 12 years, they are forced into early marriages or join them into secret societies and later become useless and hopeless.

The boys become street gangs, thieves, drug users and also are asked to get married. Almost all the communities where we have started planting the (seed) word of God are living in terrible conditions. There is no Health Centre, School and most are do not have transportation. As a result, their Agricultural goods are not marketable. This is another added problem to their poverty.

OBJECTIVES

When this project is approved and Funded, the following are our objectives:

.  To serve the communities of our interventions.

.  To render Medical Assistance to the poor, especially those unable to pay.

.  To motivate our members, to feel they belong to a group and that God and people care for them.

.  Help them become healthy and physically fit.

.  Sing and dance to the Lord.

.  To serve everybody whether Muslim or Christian and bring them to Christ.

ACTIVITIES

Movement of Mobile Clinics.

Construction of Clinics in towns and villages.

To employ trained and qualified nurses – doctors.

Workshops to train about Health hazards and maintaining a clean environment.

MEASURES – EVALUATION

When funded and activities articulated are fully implemented, both the community members and the implementing organisation will assess the success and failure of the medical Assistance and a comprehensive report will be sent to donors.  Invitation to come and visit will be issued so it will be possible to see whether their intentions are fulfilled and if there are improvements that still can be made in the lives of our people.

SUSTAINABILITY

This Medical Assistance will be sustained through the co-operation of the community members and the implementing organisation.

Drugs and other medical services will be on a cost recovery basis to help generate income to make the product sustainable even when donors would have withdrawn.
