BACKGROUND ANALYSIS

ABC4All SIERRA LEONE is a humanitarian organisation (NGO). Its purpose is to develop and promote grassroots organisations (communities) towards a self-sustainable livelihood. It also caters to the well being of Youths, especially those who are marginalized like orphans, rape victims and commercial sex workers. ABC4All SIERRA LEONE is registered with the Ministry of Development and Economic Planning and is closely working with line ministries e.g., Agriculture and Social Welfare.

Currently, ABC4All SIERRA LEONE is operating in Makeni, Kenema, Bo, Kabbala, Kono, Port Loko and in Freetown and its environs. ABC4All SIERRA LEONE is engaged in activities like Agriculture, Child protection and Human Rights advocacy. As much as possible, ABC4All SIERRA LEONE provides Food weekly for the community workers to facilitate work including self-initiative vegetable production.

After 12 weeks of needs assessment survey conducted by our community animators, it was discovered that majority of the inhabitants in our operational areas lack food (rice) which is our staple food. Moreover, most of the inhabitants are less privileged and unemployed and are not involved in any meaningful activities.

As a result, they cannot even provide their daily meal, have inadequate clothing and medical facilities. Community animators also discovered that most of the inhabitants have many children and wives thus making the situation very difficult. Consequently, these target groups have resorted to stealing, street begging, carrying loads for business women and men. For the girls, they are involved in commercial sex for their daily survival thus endangering their lives and future.

It is therefore due to this background that ABC4All SIERRA LEONE is registering for Food assistance and other Humanitarian aids for these target groups.

ABC4All SIERRA LEONE has been working with 7 communities with a total number of 250 inhabitants offering food aid in the form of work for food and engaging them fully in Agriculture activities to help them become self-reliant and independent. Due to the rowing number of these groups ABC4All SIERRA LEONE could not meet all demands and therefore solicits assistance from Humanitarian organisations.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

This organisation has tried it utmost best to assist the community by providing assistance for vital needs, especially for orphans and those neglected by their parents, relatives and community they belong to.

Therefore when this project is approved and funded, ABC4All SIERRA LEONE has among its aims the following:

. To improve living standards by providing basic needs.

. To improve health standards.

. To help with production of adequate food.

. To provide needed tools for brushing and ploughing.

. To help with improvements in self-esteem.

Survey to identify core beneficiaries

Identification of operational Zones

Registration of beneficiaries and categorization.

Home visitation/Food needs, medication and psychosocial activities.

EVALUATION/MEASURES

The management and the implementation of this project will be carried out by

ABC4All SIERRA LEONE. The narrative report and data base analysis will be submitted quarterly to the donors. It will be accountable to both donors and Board members as well as community members.
