INTRODUCTION
David Gray, President,
Huck-Fin Environmental Education (HFEE) answers the question, “What is CHEN4All?”
Here are Dave’s words
introducing what is behind the collaborators’ efforts to create Community
Health, Exercise and Nutrition for All (CHEN4All):
Here is a basic overview of CHEN4ALL,
which we are planning to start in the fall of 2005 at Castle Park Middle
School, Chula Vista, California, San Diego County. The pilot school is in
the largest high school district in the United States, the Sweetwater Union
High School District, Dr. Ed Brand, Superintendent. Of course, CHEN4All
has much more than this overview covers, but the summary conveys what is
involved. There are a lot of expert nutritionists, food specialists and
scientists participating. Their expertise covers all the way from the best
kinds of water to natural foods and nutrients. These people really care and are
concerned about the kids and people of the world. They have been active and are
now part of CHEN4ALL, which can and should be a global movement,
starting with Castle Park Middle School. We look forward to
getting this off to the BANG we're looking for – the CHEN4All Health Fair
09/05!. It's going to take a team of like minds. We also have documentation
on video that CHEN4ALL will improve TEST SCORES, HEALTH and ATTITUDE
within the community that sincerely uses it, especially the kids.

EDUCATION
The emphasis of CHEN4All will include educational components that can offer specialized training or resources needed to educate people about unhealthful food choices, the development of the overweight condition (all too often leading to obesity) and the resultant development of associated health risks.
To minimize such health risks to persons making the unhealthful food choices in eating, every attempt will be made to share information regarding the vital need to alert people to the health implications of such choices: “We are what we eat!”
Often persons make such everyday choices, without thinking and without an awareness of the long-term effects of eating foods that are unhealthy. If the person’s desire is truly to be as healthy as possible and to avoid such health risks, then the educational tools of CHEN4All become a vital component in the effort to combat the obesity epidemic. The hope is to sensitize children and their families about the implications of every food choice that is made. THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER!

HFEE and ABC4All, together, have collaborated to create a
comprehensive, community-based solution to the obesity epidemic.
MODEL PROGRAM TO BE ADOPTED
CHEN4All will utilize the successful model program created by the Nutritional Resource Foundation & Natural Ovens Bakery who have partnered up to bring nutritional fresh whole food guidelines designed to help concerned persons take the necessary steps in improving school breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. Their successful program is described in this moving, powerful 14-minute video presentation: The Impact of Fresh, Healthy Food on Learning and Behavior 2004
The purpose of CHEN4All includes protecting people from the outbreak of obesity and related ills: diabetes, heart disease, cancer and many other health risks. Minimizing these risks can lead to greater longevity with healthier and happier lives. The goal is to provide a safer environment where communities and schools will utilize the skills it takes to achieve better health for all. This is NOT “Mission Impossible!” Rather it is a mission that can be successfully carried out provided there will develop the cooperation of all segments within a community. Community Health, Exercise and Nutrition for All (CHEN4All) aims to assist communities (American citizens and children in any community) to achieve better and healthier lifestyles with improvement in personal health goals and longevity of their citizenry.
There is a need to focus on society’s critical health risks. Every effort must be made to help people accomplish healthier goals. The educational effort underlying CHEN4All must be at once both entertaining and educational! The concepts of “Mission Impossible” will be utilized to make what has been impossible up till now (control of the obesity epidemic and health-related issues) possible.
This educational thrust will culminate in a comprehensive educational module for Community Health, Exercise and Nutrition for All (CHEN4All) that will be executed by The StORIteller, Ori Yardeni: http://storiteller.com. It will then be possible to have students from schools be taken to local multiplex cinema complexes where they can be exposed to a series of productions in up to 10 successive theatres which will tell all about the different areas of concern relating to these wellness issues. Teachers can then take up the issues in a serious vein via related lesson plans in the school setting.
To reinforce and put into action all of the concepts being developed by CHEN4All, there will also be a collaborative effort with UCAN2COOK:
“Join
millions of others who are tired of the fast-food lifestyle and ready to make
some changes at home. UCAN2 Cook! teaches busy people how to integrate healthy home
cooking into their already busy lifestyles. Our system of all natural food
products, kitchenware and education makes mealtime at home convenient, healthy,
tasty and fun!”
INVITATION TO EXPLORE OPTIONS FOR MORE HEALTHFUL LIVING
Finally,
with all of the above, people will be in a position to decide for themselves
which among the “Path of Eight
Petals” offered by A Better Community
For All (ABC4All) they wish to explore to improve their level of
wellness. In so doing they will,
hopefully, achieve a “Health
Height™” which may not have been within their awareness before now.
